Tell me what you see when you're
closing your eyes...
(From "Tell Me Where You Are")
I don't know why you want me
so much,
maybe because I can feel your
touch
Baby you love me, and I love
you too,
let's come together, our dream
has come true.
Put on your red shoes, baby,
dance with me...
(From "Put On Your Red Shoes")
Born
on the shores of Lake Garda, in the north of Italy, Ago (aka Agostino
Carollo) is an accomplished singer/songwriter/keyboard and guitar player/deejay
and producer.
Ago thinks that a 20 minutes nap after lunch is really important to get the best out of your day. In fact, if he's not answering your phonecalls around 2 pm... now you know the reason why... But don't give up: you have many more chances to meet him in his recording studio, among lots of musical instruments and electronic devices, while he's busy creating one of his new tracks. As you would guess, when he's free from touring the world for shows and promotion, Ago spends most of his time in his studio.
He entered the world of music pretty early. At the age of 6, in fact, Ago started to play the violin. At the age of 11 he began to write his own songs and formed his first band. During high school Ago improved his composing and performing skills as lead vocalist, guitar and keyboard player in a number of rock bands. He was also deejaying at school parties.
Soon after starting University, Ago spent many months in France, the UK and the USA playing the piano, singing in clubs and pubs and deejaying. For him this was a fantastic experience: "I'll never forget that summer day when I left my hometown by train - he says - heading to St. Tropez with just the equivalent to 100 euros in my pocket. I only had with me my guitar, an amplifier, a microphone, my backpack and a tent that I borrowed from a friend of mine. And, of course, a bag full of dreams".
At the beginning of the 90s Ago fell in love with electronic music and, after buying a used Roland TR 909 drum machine, he got deep into the practice of using electronic machines to produce records.
His first record, "This Is The Voice" was released in 1991 under the name Paranoimia. Since then, many productions followed. In fact, although the name Ago seemed new on the music scene when the single "Put On Your Red Shoes" was released last year (including a remix of Ago's original version by Gigi d'Agostino), Agostino Carollo is not a newcomer at all. In fact, Ago is well known for his projects X-Treme ("Love Song" was three years ago a smash hit all around Europe) and Eyes Cream ("Fly Away" reached the number one spot in the Billboard USA Dance Chart in 2000). His last record as Eyes Cream, "Open Up Your Mind", released by EMI/Capitol, was recently a Top 10 in the Billboard USA Club/Dance Chart.
Agostino Carollo's song "Love Song" was last year covered by the UK band Right Said Fred and hit the German Top 20 remaing in the Top 100 more than five months. He also wrote and produced the vocals for the last Snap! single "The Power of Bhangra", released by Ministry of Sound, that, after being a Top 20 in Germany last July, hit the UK Top 40 last September.
Ago's new single "Tell Me Where You Are" is a fantastic song with powerful vocals and a refrain you won't forget. Released in Italy by Time Records at the beginning of October, the track is currently one of the most played dance tracks in the country and its music video is one of the most played by music tvs. "Tell Me Where You Are" is now gaining attention at an international level and is already at the top of the charts of some of the most important radio network in Canada and Brasil. Ago is currently completing his new album.
